Biography
Samantha read Music at the University of Huddersfield and graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in 2021. A large amount of Samantha’s degree focused on her keen interest in musicology and her first study instrument, the tenor trombone, under the tuition of Jonathan Beatty, being involved in both chamber and larger ensembles as well as solo performance. Samantha is currently Graduate Musician in Residence at King’s Ely, in which she works closely with the Cathedral choristers, teaching music theory & trombone, leading choirs, and generally involved with the thriving musical life of the school.
Although primarily a trombonist, Samantha began a notable singing career at university, attaining choral scholarships at Huddersfield Choral Society and Huddersfield Parish Church. Samantha is currently a member of the Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers, as well as the BBC Symphony Chorus, in which she has performed in well-renowned venues such as the Barbican, Maida Vale and the Royal Albert Hall at the 2022 BBC Proms.
